 Using Remote Mail to Retrieve and Delete Mail Messages.

This document is designed to help use the Remote Mail component of MS Exchange/ Windows Messaging to delete large files from your mailbox. If you find that you are unable to remove the large message using the instructions below contact Technical Support on 0870 909 8201.

Before continuing you will need to know: your user login name* and your password. If you do not know any of these details then please contact Customer Services on 0870 909 8200 who will be able to advise you.

You are advised to read these instructions carefully before undertaking any of the following procedures.

* Referenced as <USERID> below.

 Stage 1: Ensuring Remote Mail is Active.

  1. Click on Start then Settings then Control Panel.

  2. Within the "Control Panel" window double click on either Mail or Mail and Fax.

  3. Click on the Services tab. Within here click once on Internet Mail then click on Properties.

  4. Select the Connection tab and click in the option for Connect using the modem. Within the "Dial using the following connection:" entry ensure that your MinistryofSound connection is selected via the drop down menu.

  5. Click on the Login As... button and enter the following details;


    "User Name" - <USERID>@ministryofsound.net
    "Password" - Your login password

  6. Click OK. Ensure that the option for Work off-line and use Remote Mail is enabled with a tick.

  7. Click OK, Click OK on MS Exchange Settings Properties and close Control Panel.

 Stage 2: Using Remote Mail.

  1. Double click on the Inbox icon on your desktop.

  2. Click on Tools then Remote Mail. If you get a menu from Remote Mail click on Internet Mail. If you do not get the menu simply click on Remote Mail itself.

  3. A "Remote Mail" window will now appear.

  4. Click on Tools then Connect. This will then connect you to your mail box and download the headers of your e-mail messages. The sizes of each message will be displayed on the far right hand side of the window.

  5. To mark a message to be downloaded from the server click once on the message header then click on Edit then select Mark to Retrieve.

  6. To mark a message to be deleted click once on the message then click on Edit then Mark to Delete.

  7. When you have marked all the messages as you wish, click on Tools then Connect. This will connect you once more. The headers you marked will disappear from the window.

  8. Click on File then Close. You will then be returned to the main "Windows Messaging" or "MS Exchange" window. The mail messages you marked for retrieval will be displayed in your Inbox folder. Those you marked for deletion will have been deleted from the server.
